Course Overview
Learning is inherently human. But learning may look different depending on a multitude of factors. In this course, we will explore the concept of learning by critically examining learning (and related concepts) across various spheres of influence. In particular, this section involves a special focus on schooling contexts and the application of course concepts to teaching and instructional practices.
By the end of this course, students will be able to…
- Analyze various influences on learning and the ways in which they may support or undermine academic and/or social-emotional growth of learners.
- Evaluate theories of learning and development in educational settings in order to address the cognitive, physical, behavioral, social, and emotional needs of learners.
- Integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application to address the needs of learners in an educational setting.
